Our immediate surroundings offer many opportunities for walking or cycling. The ravel N°3 is right in front of the garden and is the perfect place to walk safely.
It will take you to, one side in France along of the natural reserve. If you are lucky, you’ll see the horses “Tarpans” which regulate the sometimes too invasive flora. You could stop at the beautiful little harbor of Erquelinnes and drink a good local beer on the boat “La Péniche”.
On the other side, you’ll go to Charleroi by crossing Lobbes, Thuin and the splendid abbey of Aulne. You’ll find there some very good restaurants (we love “Les Caves de l’Abbaye d’Aulne” just under the ruins in front of the weir.
Sceneries of the Haute Sambre are wonderful and relaxing and invite you to a dawdling… forgot during a week end (or more), stress and the race of the time.
In autumn, the trees will offer you a firework of colours but in all season, you’ll meet beautiful encounters… we met a man from Gand who was walking since ONE YEAR ; he was coming back from Saint Jacques de Compostelle !!!

For lovers of lond – distance hikking, the GR 129 passes less than 100 m from our house.
Whether along the Haute-Sambre or in its beautiful nature reserve (almost 80 ha), the calm and quality of life of animals are guaranteed.
If you love cycling, the towpath (ravel) can take you to Lobbes and the magnificent abbey of Aulne.
